Quick daily budgets

Budget traveller: €45-70

Hostel dorm or simple guesthouse, supermarket breakfast, casual lunch, public transport and one low-cost sight.

Mid-range: €95-155

Three-star hotel or apartment, two cafe/restaurant meals, a museum or paid attraction, and occasional Bolt rides.

Comfortable: €180-300

Good four-star hotel, stronger restaurant choices, airport transfer, guided tour or tasting, and fewer budget trade-offs.

Hotels

Vilnius is the most expensive base, especially in Old Town and around Christmas, summer weekends and major events. Kaunas is usually better value at the same quality level. Klaipeda is moderate most of the year, but Nida and the Curonian Spit become expensive in July and August.

  • Hostel dorm: about €18-35 per person.
  • Simple guesthouse or budget double: about €45-80.
  • Comfortable three-star double: about €75-120.
  • Four-star central hotel: about €110-180.
  • Top boutique or five-star Vilnius stay: often €180-300+.

Food and drink

A coffee is commonly around €2.50-4. A casual lunch can land around €9-15, while a sit-down dinner with a drink is often €22-40 per person in Vilnius. Traditional restaurants are usually cheaper than international-style Old Town dining; tasting menus and stronger wine lists move the budget up quickly.

Transport

Public transport is one of the easiest places to save money. Vilnius city tickets are low-cost, airport buses are cheap, and trains or coaches between major cities are normally much less than a rental car day. Rent a car only for the specific days where it changes the trip: Hill of Crosses, lake regions, Žemaitija or rural coast stops.

Attractions and tours

Museums and castles are usually manageable by Western European standards. Budget a few euros for smaller museums, more for major sites, and substantially more for private tours or full-day guided trips. If you buy one guided experience, make it a Vilnius food or walking tour, Trakai day trip or Curonian Spit day from Klaipėda.

Tipping and payment

Cards are accepted almost everywhere in cities, and contactless payment is normal. Keep a small amount of cash for markets, rural kiosks or small seasonal businesses. Tipping is modest: round up for coffee or casual service, and leave about 5-10% in a restaurant when service was good. It is appreciated, not a hard rule.
