Choose where to stay before you book
Vilnius is best for first-time trips, Kaunas for design and value, and Klaipėda for seaside breaks and the Curonian Spit.
Practical tips for city-hopping in Lithuania
Lithuania is a compact country. Vilnius to Kaunas is just 100 km by motorway (about 1.5 hours). Kaunas to Klaipeda takes around 2 hours. Intercity buses run frequently and are affordable. Renting a car gives you the most freedom, especially if you want to visit the Curonian Spit or Siauliai's Hill of Crosses in a single day trip. The country uses the euro and English is widely spoken in all city centres.
